Entering wine country is like entering another world. The tall yellow gums give away to rolling green hills, covered in grapevines. It is a stunning sight, but even better is the brilliant wine that comes from wine regions all over Australia. Around Melbourne you'll find a few of Australia's popular wine regions, but out of all of these where can Melbourne's best winery be found?

A good winery can be made of many things. It could be the brilliant wines that come from its cellars, or perhaps the picturesque setting that makes for a perfect picnic. You might even find that dining at your favourite winery is the perfect experience, as the pair delicious wines with their gourmet meals. What ever it is that makes your favourite winery shine, we want to know about it.

The Yarra Valley is the wine region that started off wine making in Victoria, and it is the area's most well known region. With some of Victoria's oldest wine makers come some historical wineries, with gorgeous buildings. Here you can find the likes of Redbox Vineyard & Winery, Five Oaks Vineyard, Kellybrook Winery and Restaurant, or Rochford Wines. Quite easily one of the fine vineyards in the Yarra Valley could be Melbourne's best winery.

As well as everything else the Mornington Peninsula has to offer, you'll also find some great Victorian wineries. This region is famed for producing some brilliant pinot noir, and has the cooler climate to produce some varied wines. You might prefer a drop from Merricks Estate, or like heading to the Willow Creek Vineyard. There are plenty of wineries in this region to choose from.

The volcanic soil in Geelong make it a great wine growing region, and this is just another area in Victoria where you'll find some great wineries. This is a lovely wine region to explore, having the benefit of vines and coastal areas, and you can sample wines from places like Brown Magpie Wines, Bellarine Estate, and Oakdene Vineyards Restaurant and Cellar Door.

It doesn't stop there, head to Sunbury to check out some of their fine wines, or make your way to the Macedon Ranges. The best way to experience these wineries is to take a day or two off, enjoy gourmet foods from the region, and taste the fine wines on offer. So have a taste, and let us know. Its clear that there are some great wineries just outside of Melbourne, but which one is the best?
