There are some great wine bars around Melbourne where you can sit back with some friends having a glass or two of wine, while also enjoying great atmosphere, and some tasty food. So where do you head for a great glass of wine with friends, because we're looking for Melbourne's best wine bar.



Verge Restaurant has a range of wines available. You can enjoy Australian and imported wines, but there is a strong focus on Italian wines. Pair your wine choice with well-suited meals. You can try the wines that you love, but Verge have a focus on allowing customers to try new wines, and they have a huge collection of interesting, unique, and boutique wines. This is a very classy bar, that is great for after work drinks, or a celebratory meal.



The head sommelier at Charlie's Bar has collected a large range of boutique Australian and New Zealand wines to be enjoyed by the glass or by the bottle. This can be a great place to experience some new Australian wines, and it might prompt you to take a winery tour sometime in the future. Choose from reds, whites, sparklings, and dessert wines and aperitifs. You'll also find a good selection of cocktails, beers, and food.



Punch Lane has wines on offer from Australia's biggest wine regions including from the Barossa to the Margaret River, but they also have a great range of International wines. Sample wines from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria, and try new boutique wines, as well as classic and icon wines. You can enjoy their wines alongside their a la carte menu, or just with a plate of tasty cheeses.



Phamish Food and Wine Bar is another classy place to try. There is a huge list of styles and regions, and there is a focus on Australian and New Zealand Wines. Try Phamish if you want to sample some great local blends. There is a tasty food menu to accompany your wines, think Modern Australian with a touch of Middle Eastern flavour. You can also take advantage of their Pre-Theatre Dinner Special if you're heading to the Palais Theatre for a show.
