RetroStar Vintage Clothing is a great place to start. They have a huge collection of vintage and retro gear, claiming to be the largest vintage clothing store in Australia. Surely amongst the racks of clothes there are some brilliant vintage gems. As well as clothing you'll also be able to find a great range of bags, shoes, and accessories. You'll find RetroStar on Swanston Street in the middle of the city.

Bam Bam Vintage is also jam packed full of a whole range of stylish vintage clothing. Bam Bam have a bit of a twist, not only can you find some great pieces for your own wardrobe, but they're also a costume shop. Whether you're dressing up as Snow White or Spiderman, or want to replicate your favourite era from the 1920s to the 1980s, you'll find a costume for everything. So whether you're shopping, or looking to hire, Bam Bam is a worthwhile stop.

Velour Vintage are all about fashion, and you'll find a great range of fashionable pieces that easily blend with contemporary styles. If you're looking to tweak your wardrobe with a vintage twist to current trends then Velour is the place to head. There are plenty of smaller vintage fashion boutiques all over Melbourne that always have some unique pieces. Whether you're looking for a warm winter coat, or some show stopping go-go boots, these small stores are always great to trawl through.

There are so many other options all over Melbourne. Of course there are always the op-shops like the Salvo's or Red Cross, or giant vintage and secondhand superstores like Savers. Red Cross has a vintage store in Fitzroy that is focused purely on vintage and quailty recycled clothes. The store is extremely well merchandised with styled mannequins and quirky windows. Definitely worth checking out. It's a tiny store though so watch out for it because it's easily missed. 316 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. They also accept donations instore if you are doing a clean it.
