Melbourne has a very strong coffee culture, and often teas are regaled to a small corner of the menu, but in Melbourne's tea rooms, tea reigns supreme. From the British high tea to Chinese traditions, Melbourne has plenty of tea cultures to explore. We've decided to try and find Melbourne's best tea room, but to do so we need your help. So let us know your favourite tea room, and just why it is so great.
It isn't uncommon to find an afternoon tea spot at a classy hotel, and at the
Melbourne Park Hyatt you'll find the
Tea Lounge. There are a range of teas for you to enjoy here. If you choose the afternoon tea package you'll get a range of desserts, finger sandwiches, and of course scones with jam and cream. A similar set up can be found at the
National Gallery of Victoria in their
Tea Room. They have scones, macarons, biscuits, and pastries, as well as savoury meals and salads.
Also celebrating the English tea tradition, with dainty cakes and sandwiches, are the
Hopetoun Tea Rooms in the
Block Arcade. You can sip on your tea while soaking in the opulence of the Victorian era. This is about appreciating tearooms for their traditional style, and feeling a little bit elegant while you do it. You choose to book a high tea, or just enjoy a relaxing breakfast.

Scrumptious Scones
Melbourne is filled with fabulous places to grab some Chinese, so it wouldn't seem right to not mention at least one Chinese teahouse on the list.
The Oriental Tea House is one such place. They have a great selection of white tea, oolong tea, green tea, black tea, herbal tea, fruit tea, and just about any other tea you can think of. Enjoy it with some delicious yum cha or Chinese snacks, or head straight for the dessert menu.
So do any of these tea rooms and tea houses tickle your tastebuds? If you're a tea lover, you're sure to have a favourite, so make sure you join in the discussion in the comments and let us know where we should be checking out.
