For the gnocchi, Ciao Cielo at Port Melbourne has done it for me despite giving Lygon Street more than a fair go. The pasta here is still filling with generous serving sizes, yet I do not leave with a bloated feeling. The fillings are a little more generous than the sauce. Not overly creamy. The gnocchi is well cooked and flavoursome. The staff clearly know what they are doing here on all counts.
It may be that Port Melbourne is an alternative side of Melbourne, I don't know. The food and the service at this great, trendy and chic Italian establishment along Bay Street is so worth leaving the city for. A great lunch hang out spot. More than willing to go there for brunch at a later date.
This restaurant; although not open for long is really appealing.
Where do you believe Melbourne's best Italian food can be found and enjoyed at? Maybe there is a restaurant I have missed along Lygon Street. Looking forward to your discussions and sharing.
