Food and words.

Hotdogs mean a lot more these days than just a sausage in a roll. There are some delicious gourmet options out there, and some imaginative flavour combinations. So we want to try and find Melbourne's best hotdog. If you've ever had a hotdog that made your mouth water, we want to hear all about it. We've heard some great tips already, but now we want your opinion.

The hotdogs from the Fanatical Foodie's Grandstand cart are definitely something to talk about. There are 10 different hotdogs to choose from, each letting you experience a different cuisine of the world. The Aussie Hot Dog has shredded tasty cheese, balsamic marinated onions, mayonnaise, and a freshly made beetroot relish. You might like something a bit more exotic, so why not try the Malaysian Hot Dog, with slices of cucumber, marinated onions, satay sauce, and deep fried crispy shallots. You can also choose from the Thai, Mexican, Bavarian, and Hawaiian Hot Dogs. Make sure you give these guys a go if you track down their food cart at Federation Square.

The Riverland Bar also serves up some tasty hotdogs. These aren't strictly American style hotdogs. They are cooked on the barbecue, and contain some tasty toppings. You'll enjoy an organic sausage with onion and/or sauerkraut. Choose from duck and pistachio, lamb and herbs, or chilli bratwurst. Served in a soft bun, this hotdog can be enjoyed with a great range of wines. The Riverland Bar may be a fantastic place to enjoy a meal, but only a taste test will tell if these hotdogs are up to scratch.

Sometimes you might get the craving for a Wendy's hotdog, or those $1 IKEA hotdogs. They don't quite match up to some of the gourmet varieties available, but for budget prices they quite often can hit the spot. You might even have tracked down a delicious feed at the Queen Victoria Markets, where you can find delicious German style hotdogs.

The Humble Hotdog

We bet there are some delicious hotdogs hiding all over Melbourne, but we just want your help in finding them. So if you've had an amazing Melbourne hotdog experience, make sure you tell us all about it. We want to know everything from the mustard to the bus, so that we can find Melbourne's best hotdog.

A bar called 'I know a place' in Fitzroy has some tasty hot dogs. They have about 8 different US style dogs on the menu, including the chili cheese dog, Chicago dog and classic NYC street dog.
