The Melbourne Zoo, located 4 kilometres north of Melbourne, is well worth the trip. It is easily accessible via Tram route 55 which drops guests off right out the front.

Containing more than 250 species of animals from around the world in beautifully created habitats, it has something for everyone. Visiting the Melbourne Zoo would be a great school holiday activity.

Walk through the butterfly rainforest or stop and watch the Orang-utans building crafts before your eyes. Stop by the Tigers as they are being fed or look up as the giraffes feed themselves.

Have lunch in the Japanese garden surrounded by pelicans floating on the lake or see the kangaroos and emus up close and personal.

Look the elephants in the eye as you watch them through a bar fence and be transported under the sea when you visit the Australian Fur Seals and Baby Penguins.

Have your photo taken with a Lemur in Lemur Island, their just as cute as the ones on Disney's Madagascar.

Work out feeding times when your arrive so you don't miss out on your favourite animal or go the extra mile, for $25 guests get up close and personal with the animal of their choice including Giraffes, Tortoises, Kangaroos, Coatis, Meerkats, Squirrels, and Seals.

Guests can also purchase Behind the Scenes passes for $25 for the Tigers, Elephants and Orang-utans. The Melbourne Zoo is open daily from 9am-5pm with entry costing $30.80 for Adults and up to $13.60 for children aged 4-15 years.
