The Butterfly House was always my favourite part of a Melbourne Zoo trip as a child. When I told my 5 year old daughter there were butterflies there - it was all she wanted to see. We bypassed much bigger and more spectacular animals to see the butterflies.

It still holds the same magic though, there is nothing more special than having one land on you, if just for a moment. Whilst mum's obsession was with getting a good shot, my daughter's was to have one land on her. We stayed in there a long time waiting for that - in the end she had to be coaxed out with Freddo frogs.
