It is always worth revisiting the zoo and here is another great reason -- high tea.
I've been doing my sums and these high teas represent good value for while it is free for kids to go to the zoo adults (non-concession) are up for $30.80, so if instead you pay for high tea you can gain complimentary access to the zoo as well.
These high tea events are on Sunday afternoons with access to the zoo from 1pm and high tea at 2pm. You can wander through the beautiful zoo gardens, check out all the animals and then roll up to the Rainforest Room for a delicious high tea that goes until 4pm.
One of the best things about his event is the location-- the Rainforest Room.
You are actually enclosed here and nice and warm but the view is stunning. Image from Melbourne Zoo Website
This room with its high cathedral ceilings and huge glass windows looks onto the lush greenery of the playful Tamarin monkey habitat. Outside on the terrace, it overlooks the award-winning Japanese Garden and lake.
It has its own private animal exhibit, so guests can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Melbourne Zoo without needing to be outside in the cold.
You can enjoy a selection of savoury and sweet items served with tea and coffee and no matter how cold it is you will be toasty and warm.
