This year's festival slogan is A Matter of Life and Death and the events and presenters this August and early September will have a lot to say on the matter.
Melbourne Writers Festival will have book launches, its usual Salon, writers talks, workshops for aspiring and emerging writers and young writers and school kids. There will be comedy and multi-media presentations, debates and, of course, books, books, books.
Do come to Federation Square during the festival. Even if you do not attend any of the events (there will be free events, including Ned Kelly Awards presentation for crime fiction), get some new books and get them signed by writers. Given that there will be book launches at the festival, you might be surprised what is in store.
