Vintage speakers and good coffee
Tucked away in Station Street in Malvern, just opposite the train station, is a quaint cafe with a difference. Whether sitting inside or out and enjoying a coffee you are surrounded by old things of interest at the Melbourne Vintage Audio and Espresso Station
What originally started as a vintage audio shop using reclaimed vintage travel cases and quality audio components has now added an espresso station. The company still makes unique audio cases that look great and sound sensational. You can just plug in your music player or phone and enjoy current music with a unique, old fashioned style. There are all kinds of vintage cases and bags; school bags, bowling bags, doctor's cases and travel cases that have travelled many kilometres, surely.
While you are contemplating the stories of these bags and cases, you can now enjoy an espresso or latte accompanied by a pastry or croque monsieur. The espresso machine, a beautiful piece of machinery that was custom restored, is worth having a closer look at. Technological convenience is exemplified in the computer for taking orders which sits in a vintage box and adds to the overall feeling of keeping history and nostalgia alive.
The shopfront and building are well preserved and this is a true piece of history in Malvern. Make sure you look up at the beautiful stained glass ceiling. So if you are after a special speaker with history or just want to take time out for a good coffee this is the place to go.
