As a vegetarian, I have always been little curious about whether I could ever transition to becoming a full-blown vegan. After all, I love my cheese soft, hard or anything in-between.

Well, embarking on my first has certainly changed my perspective on that! A first in Melbourne, launched their business only a few months ago, after discovering a similar tour whilst travelling through Paris last year.



Jess Ivers and Dan Pinne are the founders, a passionate couple who want to share their knowledge of discovering local and new vegan cafes and retail stores, by bringing people together who share the same values, want to make new friends or who are looking at transitioning to becoming vegan.



Meeting up at Grace Cafe in Rose St, Fitzroy, we had our first taste of delicious freshly baked cakes followed by refreshing Moroccan mint tea. The zucchini and chocolate cake was so moist it was just heavenly - too good to share!



Jess and Dan are such relaxed hosts and their local knowledge of the area means that they showcase the best vegan businesses around. These tours will be extending to different suburban areas such as Melbourne's South, East and West and across regional Victoria. At the moment, they offer a city option which is great for tourists arriving in Melbourne and the Inner North, which covers areas around Fitzroy. The Mornington Peninsula day trip is on my bucket list!



After our indulgent cake and tea stop, it was time to do some shopping at Vegan Style , a stylish cruelty-free footwear and accessories store located right in the heart of Brunswick street. I was impressed with their wide range of vegan-friendly shoes. Their pineapple collection has just arrived in-store. The upper of the shoe is made from Piñatex®, an innovative natural based material manufactured from pineapple leaf fibres. Harvested as a byproduct of existing agriculture, the leaves require no extra resources to grow, providing farming communities with an additional income. The shoes are fully recyclable and come in a biodegradable paper box, made from 100% recovered fibre.



We stopped for a quick lunch at Fina's Vegetarian Cafe, the salt and pepper tofu and rice paper rolls were made fresh with tasty dipping sauces. I loved the interior wall surrounded by beautiful photographs of lotus flowers, reflecting the restaurant's
authentic Vietnamese culture.



Jess introduced us to Koki at[LINK=https://beekeeperparade.com] Beekeeper Parade[/LINK,] but not before reading his story just outside the shop entrance! Vibrant colours and textures, all the fabrics are saved from landfill and upcycled into gorgeous wallets, backpacks, purses and bags. This is a very special store with a big heart. Koki's ethical and inspiring business has contributed to opening up schools in rural areas in his native Cambodia.



With a couple more stops at Radheys Kitchen and Chai Bar and Girls and Boys , one of my favourite ice cream shops in Brunswick St, our walking tour had come to an end. Having explored some amazing food, shopped for gifts in great company, this tour is one I highly recommend. Whether your vegan or not, this tour opens up many options and doors. Helping us make better-informed choices in our daily lives. Eating plant-based diet has so many health benefits and at the same time extending our compassion and kindness to animals.
