If you love crime scene investigation and have been following the Underbelly television series and now want more, someone is already 'on to it'. Get some more depth to the details with a crime scene tour of Melbourne's underbelly. Be warned, you will be presented with disturbing facts, crime details and will find out some of the motivations behind the criminal episodes and characteristics of the vicious criminals.
As a follower of the television series, I couldn't resist the opportunity to do this tour during my recent stay in Melbourne. In fact, it turned out to be the highlight of my visit. Our tour guide was 'Bad Boy Leroy Brown', (well, that's how he introduced himself, so I'm sure he won't mind me calling him that).
Where, when and what?
Tours operate Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12pm. On Saturdays and Sundays, there is an 8am tour and a 12pm tour. I'm happy to give you a brief rundown on how the tour operated, but it shall be brief, as if you have the investigative mind and want to know more, well hey, you are just going to have to jump on this bus to stop, look, listen and ask for yourself.
You will be shown the spot where Victor Pearce was gunned down, where the Hoddle Street massacre took place, hear about Chopper Read, Mick Gatto, Julian Knight, the Morans and many more.
This comprehensive tour covers drive to and information on; Hoddle Street Massacre The Walsh Street Murders
Russell Street Bombing Queen Street Massacre
You finish your day getting 'locked up' at the Melbourne Watch House for no additional charge. Oh, and if you behave yourself you will get let out.
Please make time for this as it is definitely worth it.
Additionally you are provided with a 50% discount voucher to visit the Melbourne Goal next door (valid for 3 days).
Now, if you are ready to make your move to the underworld, check out the website of Go West Tours and book yourself a seat.
