Lionel's Melbourne is set to dress up and party down from Monday, 3 September until Sunday, 9 September with Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW).

MSFW is about fashion's recent history, the rise of global brands, runway shows and visionaries, the business of fashion and their collective influence on the Melbourne fashion scene. MSFW is also about showcasing the latest local trends at City Square, the 4 fresh faces, emerging designers and their exhibitions and fashion that is Made-in-Melbourne.

I had the opportunity to review some of the talent creating fashion in Melbourne including duo Lisa Taranto and Lea Oldjohn who hailed from Mornington Peninsula. Lisa and Lea's styling is dedicated to freedom, movement, passion and the love of the dress. This shared vision is delivered through their blend of structural silhouettes and exaggerated lines with subtle pleating, folding and draping on high quality fabrics.

They draw inspiration from their shared love of history, film, photography and travel and confidence in their knowledge of patternmaking, print, dyeing, design and illustration to create inspired and beautifully finished designs for LISA TARANTO thus far. The result is a collection of signature garments that are developing a cult following in Australia.

Inspired by their vision of future fashion, Lisa and Lea will be showcasing their Voltaic Doll collection at the Made In Melbourne runway show as part of MSFW. Expect a collision of futuristic shapes and bold colours like fire sky red-pink, liquid blue-green, volcano orange and violent violet that deliver the message of a powerful, feminine, vibrant and independent woman. MIM is supported by Kwencher, Nudie Juice, Hair By Ciccone, Bodyography, RMK, Moxy Tampons, Time Out Magazine, Ichu Jewelry, Canvas Marketing and Fjorde Magazine.
