The Fun, Food & Friendship Melbourne Social Club was formally recognised this year by the Melbourne Lord Mayor for its success in bringing people of all walks of life together. Both singles and couple have been able to extend their social network, meeting with others for fun, adventure, dinner and outings, often at group discounted rates.

This Christmas Day, the Melbourne Social Club is hosting a very special lunch, not only for club members, but anybody either finding themselves alone or wanting to meet with friends – old or new – for a community-based Christmas celebration.

A friendly, relaxed atmosphere, simply invite a friend or two, pack a hamper of Christmas fare and come spread out on the lawn in the Queen Victoria Gardens (opposite the National Gallery of Australia) on St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Over 100 people are expected to attend what will be the 11th such successful, seasonal gathering.

Public transport runs free on Christmas Day so access is easy. Take the train to Flinders Street station then either walk or catch a tram. There will be plenty of room for outdoor games, so in addition to your picnic basket, food & drink, blanket/chair/rug, be sure to bring along a footy or cricket bat and ball and invite others to join you for some mid afternoon exercise. Organisers are also requesting everyone wears a name tag to encourage interaction and make the day even more social. This is the perfect opportunity to make some new friends.

Festivities will officially commence at 12noon and run until 3pm on Sunday 25th December 2016 in the Queen Victoria Gardens, St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Take the stairs opposite the Arts Centre and the grassy area reserved for this event will be directly opposite the National Gallery of Victoria. A Melbourne Social Club banner will be hanging from a tree. Ian from the Melbourne Social Club will be on hand to greet and introduce you around, so no need for nerves.

Bookings are requested via the Melbourne Social Club website. You will find all the details here.

The Melbourne Social Club has an event calendar jammed packed full of great events from adventure outings to dinners, dancing and pub crawls, trivia nights to sailing and much more.
