Melbourne Singers of Gospel are presenting 'This is Me', their annual gala on Saturday 1 December 2018. Come along with your family and friends and enjoy an inspiring Broadway and gospel celebration with the 100 voices of Melbourne Singers of Gospel accompanied by the cool jazz-blues sound of Jex Saarelaht and The Soul Train band.
The concert event will be held at James Tatoulis Auditorium, MLC, Kew and feature music arranged by Tony nominee performer and musical director of 'Broadway Inspirational Voices' Michael McElroy, and crowd favourites selected by musical director, Dr Darren Wicks, who is celebrating his 10 year anniversary with the choir.
Over the last decade, Dr Wicks has been the driving force in developing the musicianship and vocal skills of this dynamic choir, which includes joining forces with accomplished international choral directors. "This year, we were thrilled to secure Michael McElroy, musical director of 'Broadway Inspirational Voices', a choir of professional Broadway performers. Michael joined us as our special guest educator and his energy, passion and style was illuminating. We are looking forward to showcasing his arrangements at this year's gala," said Dr Wicks. He added, "It is well documented that singing in a choir improves our sense of happiness and wellbeing. People feel more positive which in part comes directly from the release of positive neurochemicals such as endorphins; dopamine and serotonin. People will leave our concerts on a high!"
