I don't know about you but one of the things I loved doing as a kid was playing dress-up. And when I get a chance to do it as an adult, it sends me to another world where I can forget about the daily grind and live a different life for a short time before coming back to reality.

Most fans of Jane Austen and other regency set fiction such as Bridgerton will attest to loving the costumes, the sets and the story and then there are those, such as myself, that will take it a step further and step into the shoes (and dress) of that era. It's certainly not something we can do every day!



It's events such as the Annual Melbourne Regency Picnic that give us the opportunity to meet with like-minded people and take the day out to step back in time. Now in its 7th year, the picnic plays host to hundreds of people from Melbourne and all over Australia who come together and enjoy a day in the park dressed in Regency style.

This year's event will be held at the beautiful Canterbury Gardens from 12pm on Sunday the 18th of April 2021. They hope to have a parade down Maling Road later in the afternoon. "Costume - Optional, Georgian, Empire, Regency, late Regency and even your favourite 'Bridgerton' outfit."
