The Melbourne Regatta and Blessing of the Fleet 2016 is this Sunday, 28th of August and to celebrate, Docklands Sunday Market is joining in the fun!
The Melbourne Regatta and Blessing of the Fleet 2016 celebrates Melbourne's maritime and indigenous history and features a magnificent waterside spectacle at Docklands. All are invited to spend a relaxing and enjoyable day on Victoria Harbour Promenade from 10am. There will be lots of live entertainment, attractions and shopping fun all day long!
Come and see a Welcome to Country Ceremony by Auntie Doreen of the Wurundjeri & Kulin Nation people and a Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony by Father Bob Maguire. There will also be live entertainment on stage with Jane O'Toole, Lindi Jane and Greek Dancers; Jaspora Reggae/Calypso Band; Normie Rowe & the Playboys; and a sing along with the renowned Dockland Community Choir.
Adding to the festive atmosphere is the bustling Docklands Sunday Market with a wide range of arts & crafts made by passionate artists and artisans. Come and peruse over 40 eclectic stalls offering unique arts, photography, homewares (crystals, enamel signs and brass periscopes), ladies fashion, recycled kid's clothes and soft toys, handmade jewellery, skincare, soap & soya candles, second-hand books, gourmet products (honey) and much more! It's a great opportunity to find something special for Father's Day!
Plus coinciding with the Melbourne Regatta is a Food Market with over 20 international stalls! With all corners of the globe represented, there's sure to be something new and exciting to try and tables and chairs will be provided so you can enjoy a leisurely lunch while viewing the Schooner Enterprize and other vessels sailing out of Victoria Harbour.
You can also pop into one of NewQuay's restaurants for a meal by the waterfront. Choose from Cargo, Fish Bar, Capri @ The Quays, New Quay International Buffet, Bopha Devi Cambodian and many more.
