One thing that sets Melbourne apart from other cities is our public art. There is the traditional art that you can find in galleries, and statues that you can find on the streets, both new and old.
But something that I've just noticed recently are art installations that exist inside of privately owned public places, such as arcades. Last week I came I saw three such pieces; all speaking to different things in our daily experiences.

Spring Umbrellas - suspended high up in the air.

But don't forget to also look down, only then will you discover as I did this fascinating knitting idea along the banisters of the stairs. Do you remember as a kid learning the knit?
I was reminded and inspired when I saw the hand rails on the staircase covered in a brightly coloured knitted sleeve.

And then of course there is the traditional artwork on the floor:

Now if you're down this end of Collins Street, why not take in

The City of Melbourne is not just about shopping, take time to take it all in, look up and down not just sideways into the shops!
You will be wealthier for the experience.
