It's back again this year, spanning the long week that is the 15th to the 24th of November, this unique festival has Melbourne written all over it. From the incredibly unique Red Bull Tram Jam to the weird yet wonderful Federation Bells Workshop, this creative and World class event is sure to add vibrancy and creativity to the already contemporary city of Melbourne.
I had the pleasure of attending the opening ceremony of this same event last year, which was in fact held in a derelict and run down building, right in the centre of the CBD. The venue, cleverly named the "Where? House", featured pop up stores, world class and multicultural food offerings, great music and a sanctuary for music lovers from around the country. The opening ceremony from 2012 had an added aura and element of mysteriousness to it. This was a direct result of the fact that the location of the venue was not revealed until a few days before the event.
The event last year also boasted a strong line-up, featuring acts such as: Housse De Racket, Juggernaut Dj's, Oliver Tank, Collarbones and Claire Bowditch to name only a few.
The delightful Opening Ceremony venue in 2012.
Be sure to get amongst the festivities this year, with a large portion of daily and free events appearing throughout the city over the next four days. A full guide and program can be found here , meaning there is no excuse to not attend some phenomenal and truly unique events in the coming days.
