There are two free outdoor 'Summer Concerts' series in Melbourne in the coming weeks.

These relaxed and informal gigs are designed for patrons to make most of the warm weather and are scheduled on the weekends. Here is a detailed list of the upcoming events held by the Melbourne and Victoria councils;

at the Fitzroy Gardens.
(230-298 Wellington Parade East, Melbourne, VIC 3002)
22 and 23 January, 2011 and 29 and 30 January, 2011.

Over two weekends the City of Melbourne have organised a series of free concerts and activities held in the Fitzroy Gardens. On the 22nd of January The Twoks will open the events from 6:30pm.

At 8:00pm Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes are scheduled to perform.

On the 23rd of January - something a little different has been orgainsed - entitled Bollywood with Rhythm & Spice, this two hour event, which starts at 6:30pm is a Bollywood dance workshop. Embrace the infectious rhythms and learn some new moves on this fun filled night.

The following weekend - on the 29th of January, Eagle and the Worm take the stage at 6:30pm.

Then at 8pm Vika and Linda Bull are scheduled to perfom.

On the 30th of January, the final night of the concert series - from 6:30pm there is special night dedicated to African dance & drumming. On this night you can learn African drumming techniques and traditional dance. This is a fun and enjoyable way to finish the events at Fitzroy Gardens.


Fairfield Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series
(Fairfield Park, Heidelberg Road, Fairfield, VIC, 3078)
Every Sunday evening of February, 2011

Over four weeks there will be free concerts on each Sunday of February at the Fairfield Amphitheatre. Sponsored by the City of Yarra, patrons are welcomed to relax on the grounds with a blanket and enjoy the live music - which will range from world music to classical music to folk music to jazz music. This popular annual event, which runs from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, is hosting the following acts;
