Those who stroll by Melbourne's Little Bourke Street through Chinatown on a regular basis may never be privy to some of the gruesome and frightful history that's made this part of the city so infamous.

Melbourne Murder Tours offers a range of tours exposing some of Melbourne's seedier past including the Chinatown Murder tour.

Groups meet up in front of the Chinese (Tianjin) Gardens Corner of Spring & Little Bourke Streets, before departing for a 90 minute tour full of stories of the.....well, departed.

With you're fully costumed host, you'll hear stories of what Melbourne used to be and the not-so-typical stories of the brothels, opium dens and generally seedier tales you won't believe.

Known as the oldest Chinese community in the Western world, Little Bourke Street and its surrounding area is so full of hidden laneways and spine tingling secrets, even the keenest history buff is certain to discover something new.

Tales of Chang the Chinese Giant, Ned Kelly, Squizzy Taylor and the Bourke Street Rats and more will keep you in awe as to how so much took place in just a few streets!

This tour is strictly 18 years and over and booking are essential. Tour is 90 minutes and tickets are $30 per person.

Melbourne Murder Tours also runs similar tours in various locations including Carlton, Geelong and Beechworth.

Discover some of the cities more hair-raising history and you'll never look at Chinatown the same way again.
