Think lifestyle and entertainment treats in Melbourne can't get any better than
FOMO Fridays ? Think again.
The City of Melbourne has launched a new program that will offer you savings when you dine in the city's restaurants, cafes and bars. Starting 11 June, you can claim back 20 percent of your total food and drink bill from the City Council. That's a direct 20 percent rebate on your spending.
There are many dining establishments to choose from as the rebate is available right across the City of Melbourne municipality including Southbank, Chinatown, Lygon Street, Docklands, North Melbourne and Kensington and at hospitality venues within sporting, arts and theatre precincts.
Best of all, the program is free to join and everyone is eligible to access it, regardless of whether you are a resident or visitor to Melbourne city from the suburbs and regional. This $8.4 million program is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne and rebates will continue until the fund is exhausted.
So how does work?
Simply spend between $50 and $500 (inclusive of GST) in Melbourne's restaurants, cafes and bars to be eligible for the 20 percent rebate on your total food and drink bill. Your bill can include alcohol, provided alcohol is combined with dining in food purchases.
You can even claim your 20 percent back on takeaway that is ordered either in person, online or by phone. However, the takeaway must be collected in-venue and you must spend a minimum of $50 per order.
The rebate is capped at $500 maximum spend or $100 rebate per person over the life of the program. Thus you can claim 10 receipts of $50 each.
Pay for your meal in full and make sure you get an itemised receipt with the business name, purchase date, total paid and ABN on there.
Take a photo or scan a copy of your receipt and upload it with your bank details via the claim page on the website.
Your 20 per cent rebate will be credited to your nominated bank account within five business days from approval. Please note that you must have an Australian bank account to claim.
Upon submitting your claim, you will receive a tracking number. You can access the website and enter your tracking number to see the progress of your claim.
Only one receipt can be uploaded per claim.
All claims are processed on a first-in best-dressed basis until available funds are exhausted so make sure you complete and submit your claim as quickly as possible.
