Market Week returns to Prahran Market, South Melbourne Market, Queen Victoria Market and Dandenong Market from the 5th to 13th of September 2015.

This very popular week-long festival presents a fantastic range of interactive events and entertainment for all the family to enjoy.

This year's event centres on the inspiring theme of 'Shop Well, Eat Well, Live Well' and there will be more than 50 FREE events to participate in.

Each Market will host its own jam-packed schedule of free tastings, group tours, quirky competitions, giveaways and more. Below are some of the event highlights to look forward to!

  • World's Best Smoothie Competition

All four markets will be running this fun competition. Come along with the family and watch as the always entertaining fruit and veg traders create a signature smoothie and do battle with one another. Will they go for the classic flavours of mango and strawberry or embrace trendy kale, wholesome broccoli and tasty beetroot?

The public can pick a free Smoothie taster and vote for their favourite!

  • Yoga, Movement & Music

Yoga at the market? Why not! Queen Victoria Market will be offering quirky 'Disco Yoga' sessions with Yoga guru Nickie Hanley, while at South Melbourne Market and Prahran Market, complimentary Zumba sessions will get you moving and grooving. And if you want more music - head to the South Melbourne Market's Music Festival on Sunday 13th September 2015 and enjoy performances by crowd favourites La Rumba, Sarah Carnegie and DJ SO:ME Space.

    Cooking Demonstrations, Tours & More

Need some new recipe ideas? Well, all four Markets have you covered with a full schedule of inspiring cooking classes, workshops and informative tours.

If you are after some quirky 'foodie', entertainment check out Dandenong Market's Tough Food Challenge on Sunday 6th September 2015. The competitors will be more than a little teary eyed as they consume lemons, raw onions and hot chillies in three gruelling rounds. The winner ought to receive a standing ovation!

The Spruiker challenge returns to Dandenong Market on Saturday 5th September 2015 as well and invites the public to immerse themselves in the 'feel good factor' of the classic market soundtrack whilst revelling in the competitive atmosphere.

If you want to learn how to 'Eat Well' don't miss the 'Getting Back to the Basics with Food' workshop hosted in Prahran's Blanco Kitchen on Sunday 6th September and the cooking demonstrations by lifestyle blogger Claire Hillier of Checks and Spots at Queen Victoria Market on Tuesday 8th and Friday 11th September 2015.

Queen Victoria Markets will also be offering the Everyday Superfoods' market tour where you can learn about healthy foods free of common allergens or irritants. Meanwhile Prahran Market will present a fruit foraging kids activity, designed to encourage healthy eating habits on Sunday 6th of September.

Coinciding with the Market Week festivities is South Melbourne Market's 'Wellness Festival' on Saturday 5th September. In a vibrant festive atmosphere, this event offers wellness seminars from local experts and much more.
