To market, to market
Winter weekends can be the perfect time for strolling around makers markets. Browse stalls groaning with homemade goodies and warm yourself with some of the tasty fare on offer. You can usually manage to find bespoke gifts if you have birthdays to buy for - or even start your Christmas shopping super early. Below are three upcoming markets where you can grab yourself some unique bargains and feel good about supporting small enterprises.
• The Creators Market at Mentone will be held on Saturday 27th July between 9am and 2pm at 10 Balcombe Road in Mentone. You can enjoy perusing jewellery, fashion, candles and homewares, as well as a variety of sweet treats, condiments and other tantalising morsels. Entry is free and you can buy coffee and toasties on-site to satisfy any hunger pangs (if you haven't already filled your tummy with the aforementioned treats). With plenty of free parking your market visit will be stress-free.
• Sorrento Makers Market is on this weekend on Saturday 20th July between 9am and 2pm. Located in the heart of Sorrento Village on Ocean Beach Road, you can take in the sea views whilst you shop. Entry and parking are both free, leaving you with more cash to purchase some of the great quality products and produce available.
• Avenel Produce and Craft Market is perfect for a day trip being an hours drive from Melbourne. It features plenty of fresh local produce inlcuding wine, homemade chocolates and beautiful flowers and plants. You can also pick up hand made jewellery and other craft items. Entertainment is provided in the form of a free kids' art area and live music. The Avenel Produce and Craft Market will be held on Sunday August 11th between 9am and 1pm at Jubilee Park in Avenel which is close to the beautiful Goulburn River.
