The nerdy Melburnian's answer to Fashion Week, celebrates innovations in the business world and knowledge for its own sake. The second annual Knowledge Week is taking place from the 28th of November to the second of December after the inaugural Knowledge Week's success last year.
While some events and conferences are for insiders only, others are open to members of the public. Here are a few of the events that you can be a part of:
**
Walkin' Birrarung: Yarra Cultural Walk **
Take a journey through Melbourne's city and learn about the significance it has for Aborigines. Living in Melbourne long before skyscrapers and fast food joints on every corner, they imbued the Yarra with their culture and have many a story to tell.
There are two sessions being run, on Tuesday the 29th of November and Friday the second of December. The two-hour walk is free to attend, although bookings are essential.
Melbourne Conversations- What's happening to information about you?
This public forum discusses the dissemination of data picked up from people on the internet. Speakers most notably include Nicholas Gruen, and the discussion is facilitated by Peter Mares of ABC Radio National.
This free event takes place at BMW Edge, Federation Square and takes place from 5pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday, November 30.
The Future Direction of New Technologies
A dazzling array of experts on
small technologies - the convergence of nanotechnology, ICT, engineering and biotechnology- will speak at this seminar on the second day of knowledge week.
