Robots, virtual reality, creative play spaces, urban living and much more - yes, the future is here already! This is Melbourne Knowledge Week 2017 - MKW17 (May 1-7) with this year's theme of Know, Now, Next.
This will be a week full of innovation and creativity where you'll hear from international industry leaders, test cutting-edge technology, taste future food and help to solve Melbourne's future challenges. The themes of Urban Living, Food, Community Sandbox, the Body, Future Work and Startups offer not only engagement of the mind but also workshops and interactive engagement for visitors. The full program can be accessed here.
All the themes address future possibilities and creations in a number of fields - science, technology, food, medicine and knowledge creation. They also highlight future challenges and problems likely to be faced by the next generations. Some of the programs are aimed at school groups but anyone interested in the future of work, living and creativity and innovation will find a topic of interest. There are some fascinating opportunities to get involved such as Creating Well-Beings: Night Hack at the Melbourne Museum which will allow you to help create a new exhibit about the human body while staying overnight in the museum.
