The city is about to come alive with the onset of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival from the 28th of May to the 7th of June 2015. This annual festival was first held in 1998 and will take place in concert halls, arts venues, jazz clubs and throughout the streets of Melbourne. A lot of consideration has gone into the program that aims to please young and old, seasoned fans and the uninitiated. You're bound to find something to please you. Download the program HERE .

Kicking offl with a free open-air concert at Federation Square on Friday the 29th of May from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, it'll feature samples of the festival's most exciting acts, hosted by the fabulous Fem Belling , so bring your family and friends. Dancing shoes a must. Subscribe to the festival's eNews (option at the bottom of every page of the website ) to be in the know of the full line-up.

Aspiring to be world leaders in jazz presentation, this years program is crammed with intimate club gigs ( Bennetts Lane , Uptown Jazz Cafe , Dizzy's Jazz Club ), one off festival events , late-night art parties, film screenings , conversations , workshops , events for families and children and a wide range of free events . It features some of the world's most important and iconic jazz artists, soulful singers and more.

There'll be a fusion of musical worlds when jazz vocalist Kurt Elling joins forces with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenon will also fuse his Latin roots with contemporary jazz compositions. The world premier of Nyilipidgi by Paul Grabowsky is another to look forward to as new work blends the musical heritage of Australia with cutting edge compositions and improvisations by some of the leading figures in the Australian contemporary music scene.
