Don't miss this year's Garden and Flower Show
Over five days, you can visit the exciting Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

If you are at all interested in gardens, their upkeep, plants and flowers, then this is an unmissable show for you. You will definitely be inspired at the 2019 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show by the range of products you can see and buy. You will be able to smell the flowers from Wednesday 27th March until Sunday 31st March at the Royal Exhibition Building (9 Nicholson Street, Carlton) and Carlton Gardens (111 Carlton Street).

This will be the 24th annual event and it is the Southern Hemisphere's leading floral and landscape design event. The floral displays will be breathtaking and the show gardens, nothing short of spectacular. There will be floral design workshops, you can meet key designers and industry experts and wander through the specialist retail products and see all the beautiful plants that are for sale.

The floral displays have to be seen to be believed! These bright floral installations will fill the Royal Exhibition Building once again as the best local and international floral designers will show their handiwork and compete to win the much sought after Gold Floral Design Award. Florists will create a range of interactive and fascinating floral displays, which will turn the hall into a maze of colours.

You can book for one of these workshops, where you will learn from the best - these will be brought to you by The Melbourne Flower School. They are hands-on workshops where you can learn how to make a small floral totem with unique blooms. They will teach you how to use pieces and flowers from your own garden to create this charming bouquet as well as tell you the main techniques for making these. As there are only limited spaces for this event, you will need to book early to ensure your place. The cost is $30 plus booking fee.

The Avenue of Achievable Gardens is one of the main features of the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. The Avenue of Achievable Gardens design competition gives both students and educational institutions the chance to show their design expertise and their horticultural knowledge to make an achievable garden. This is a fabulous learning experience for students and it teaches them to go through this process from first designing it to the actual construction of a show garden.

You can read more and see last year's winners at this link.

This is an open competition giving florists, designers, stylists, floristry students and flower lovers the opportunity to make a unique floral shop window. The focus will be on the presentation and their creative ability. The theme for this year's window display competition is "home is where the heart is".

The Boutique Garden Competition is a unique opportunity for landscape designers, landscape architects and students to enter in The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. They will be designing and installing a 5m x 5m boutique garden. There will be five finalists and these are usually stunning works which can also promote their business!

There will be stunning show gardens in the Carlton Gardens, designed and built by Australian and international designers. There will be a show garden design award which recognises the work of landscape designers.

The Diggers Club's exhibit returns for another fabulous Victorian food affair. The plant conservation group will create an artful and edible garden as well as an heirloom tasting area. This will be ideal for learning about the extraordinary vegetable and plant varieties not found in supermarkets.

Each year RMIT Fashion design students are given a theme on which to base their creative plant-based designs. These designs are then displayed in the Great Hall of Flowers and is something quite different.

Last year showcased the first ever Welcome Garden, designed by 2017 Best in Show award winner Phillip Withers. This was somewhere where visitors can relax, sit and plan their day! It was a great hit with the many visitors and will be on again this year.

There will also be some fabulous art for sale at this show. A number of Victoria's best art societies will be exhibiting and selling their masterpieces! The artists will also be at the show to help with any queries. This will be held upstairs in the Great Hall of Flowers and all artwork can be taken home on the same day.

There will be roving entertainment on all the days of the show. There will be something for everyone right throughout the Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition Building.

You can purchase your tickets for any of the days at this link.
