While most of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows are ticketed, one event which is completely free is the The (Very) Big Laugh Out at Fed Square. This is an annual event held on selected days throughout the run of the festival. There will be day and evening stand up comedy shows held on either the Fed Square Main Stage or Fed Square Pitch.

Participating at this event will be both local and international acts, including The Amazing Mr Fish, Candy B & Busty Beats, Anna Pocket Rocket, Asher Treleaven, Carl-Einar Hackner, Byron Bertram, The Birdmann, The List Operators and many more. There are sure to be roving performers as well.

Head down to Fed Square at the following times for a free laugh;

29 March - 13 April
Tuesday-Friday 1pm, 2.30pm & 4pm
31 March - 22 April
Saturday & Sunday 11.30am & 12.30pm

Discover Melbourne alongside Australian stand-up comedian and writer, Rod Quantock. I'm not quite sure where he will take you (hence the mystery), but I can promise you that you will have a great time.

Meet him in front on Melbourne Town Hall and for one hour, follow his lead. Armed with a megaphone, he is sure to have some great stories and yes, I expect he will be funny.

This walking tour is priced at $25 and will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. Tickets must be pre-purchased; click here for more information.

Hannah Gadsby : Mary, Contrary NGV Art Tour

Art and comedy collide in this annual art/comedy tour with award-winning Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby. These special tours are incredibly popular and sell out every year.

It will once again be held at the National Gallery of Victoria and Gadsby, who holds an Art Curatorship degree, will explore some of the Gallery's most famous works, with a little humour thrown in.

Expect to learn and laugh at this special event.

Running for one hour, these tours will take place at 4:30pm on Saturday. Tickets are priced at $20. Click here for more details.

The Comedy Zone

Discover up and coming Australian talent at this special show. Performing at this event is Khaled Khalafalla, Laura Hughes, Tom Gaynor, Dayne Rathbone and Damien Power.

Priced at only $20, you can catch this show at the Trades Hall;
Tuesday to Saturday, from 9.30pm and Sunday, from 8.30pm. For further details, please click here.

Festival Club

Our final Melbourne International Comedy Festival hotspot is the Festival Club at The Hi-Fi. During the run of the festival, there will be nightly special events here. To give you an idea of the unusual gatherings; here are some of the forthcoming events;

April 3rd -'The Cardigans'; A night dedicated to cardigan wearers, poetry and keyboard players..

April 17th - 'Benn Bennett's Tropical Hotdog Night'; Dine on hot dogs in a tropical paradise.

Wednesdays - '10 Comedians for Ten Bucks'; So one dollar a comedian!
