The team behind Sydney Interactive Theatre are now setting their sights on Melbourne's historic streets - which were once ruled by gangsters.

Launching this Spring attempts to give locals and tourists an experience like no other. Described by its organisers as "part game, part theatre, part tour, part bar crawl" offers the audience an opportunity to become part of the theatre experience by participating in a scavenger hunt style adventure. This unique concept has become the popular the world over - including New York, London, and Sydney and now it's Melbourne's chance to get in on the 'act'.

It begins with a tale and in this case it's ' The Messenger ', which is set in Melbourne's 1920's gangster era. 'The Messenger' centres on Donnie and Rose, two young lovers who want to settle down and distance themselves from their criminal pasts. They plan one last job that will set them up for life - which goes off without a hitch. However mob boss Tony catches them in the act, forcing Donnie and Rose to go their separate ways.

Hiding from the mob and the authorities, Donnie needs to give Rose a message, but doesn't know where she is. He recruits the audience members (The Messengers) to help get word to Rosie - but will they get to her in time and what will happen to the $50 million dollars?

The narrative of 'The Messenger' will be set in and around the Melbourne CBD and the audience will be given a range of tasks to complete. Together as a group, the audience will become part of the theatre experience as they meet professional actors scattered around the city. They will visit iconic landmarks, parklands, riverbanks, back alleys and enter various establishments, looking for clues which will help develop the narrative.
"It's brilliantly done, and utterly immersing as the afternoon passes and you scan the crowds, trying to spot Tony's henchman and any potential allies, unsure who to trust."
Daily Telegraph

Not much will be revealed to the audience beforehand, as the experience is designed to be unpredictable - plus part of the fun is that you never quite know just who is part of the interactive theatre production.

will host their production of 'The Messenger' every Saturday from September 21st, 2013. There are several session times to choose from (between 2pm to 4pm), with tickets priced at $69.00. The ticket price covers the whole experience and also includes food and drinks.
