Barney Stinson: No! Well, actually, yeah. %%
Laser tag is arguably the world's most awesome sport, as Barney Stinson might say, with many popular venues around Melbourne.
First and foremost, there is
M9 Laser Skirmish , with locations at Crown, Clayton, Watergardens, Highpoint and a new battleground at Forest Hill. At Crown, M9 Kaser skirmish is located within Galactic Circus - Australia's Largest Indoor Theme Park. Galactic Circus also has Kingpin Bowling, so the Crown Entertainment Complex in Southbank is definitely a great location to spend a day with kids. The theme of the arena at Crown is 'Alien Invasion', so you can expect a sprawling green battlefield full of rival players and alien predators, while as the theme at Forest Hill is an urban city underworld full of mazes of buildings and plenty of dark tunnels to hide within. The different themes at different M9 Laser Skirmish locations varies the experience, and with different mazes comes a different strategy.
Another great location is
Dark Zone , situated in Melbourne's Eastern suburb of Box Hill. Dark Zone boasts multiple deal options: for kids' birthdays, tafe and uni specials, corporate events, twilight zone prices, 'the final hour', and my favourite: midnight-2-dawn experience. The midnight-2-dawn experience includes seven whole hours of laser games with different formats, the doors being locked at 12.15am and remaining locked until 7am. Both private and public sessions are available, with public sessions being held regularly on the first Friday of every month with extra days during school holidays. It costs $40pp for a booking in the public session, snacks and drinks being included. Private session prices vary depending on the number of people and if you want the optional extras, it can range from $800 - $1900.
The third major laser tag location available in Melbourne would be at
Le Mans Laser Zone , located in Dandenong South. This arena consists of various towers, bases and ramps covered abundantly in fluorescent paint as to create a glowing, well-lit environment. They have various solo and team missions, and if you become a member admission is around $2 cheaper.
It must be key to note that, although Laser Tag is great for both kids and adults, many places have an age restriction of at least eight years (M9 Laser Skirmish and Dark Zone for example) and Le Mans reccommends a minimum age of six years.
See you on the battlefield!
