Check it out, snow bunnies. The Melbourne Ice Slide is back again for another year. It's time to grab your mittens and boots and get your slip on using this very real, very slippery ice slide situated right beside the banks of our magnificent Yarra.
Transforming the Southbank boulevard into a winter wonderland, the good folk from the Eureka Sky Deck are once again going all out to provide some real snow fun for families these winter school holidays. Using ice tubes imported from Canada – so they're totally the real deal – the challenge is on to see how fast you can go. The slide stands four metres high and rolls along a slidey 40-metre length. Using a fine misting system, the slide is kept at a constant chilly -12 degrees to ensure maximum slippage all day long. There are no age or height restrictions and you can just wear your normal clothes, with perhaps a change for after, just in case.
The Melbourne Ice Slide will be rolling out the white carpet during the winter school holidays from Saturday 1st July until Sunday 16th July 2017. The slide will be operating from 10am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 10am to 8pm Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 7pm on Sunday. Rides cost $12 for 3 slides or $20 for 6 slides. No need to book, tickets can be purchased on site and if you also take a ride up to the Skydeck you'll receive a discount on the Melbourne Ice Slide.
The Skydeck is open every day from 10am to 10pm. Entry is $20 for adults, $15.50 concession, $11.50 for kids or a family ticket is $46.
Looking for even more winter holiday snow fun while you're in town, then hop across to Federation Square where you'll find the outdoor skating river rink. The rink will be open Sunday to Wednesday: 10am to 9pm and Thursday to Saturday: 10am to 10pm. The rink will be operating from Saturday 1st July until Sunday 23rd July 2017. Catering to every age group, this super fun activity is a day out you'll all remember. Prices start at $15 and as space is limited bookings are highly recommended.
