The City of Melbourne will bring together diverse people sharing the same Eastern Mediterranean culture for the Melbourne Harmony Festival. Filled with traditional dances, concerts, shows, cultural community marquees, art displays and cuisine, come along and enjoy the sights, aromas and cultural presentations of the festival. Experience age-old cultures, and their unique shared music with exotic rhythms, scales and instruments, along with traditional costumes and dances.


Some of the instruments in play were used in ancient Greece, Egypt, Hittite and Mesopotamia. You'd be hard pressed to be familiar with traditional instruments like ney, oud, saz, kemence, laouto, tar, santur, darbuka, and bendir. Immerse yourself in all the feels and vibes of the Harmony Festival at Federation Square, Cnr Flinders and Swanston Street in the City on Saturday 8 January 2022 from 12pm to 10pm.


The event opens at midday with the Opening Ceremony at 2pm. From 3pm onwards you have traditional dances and shows and concerts from 6pm to end of event. It's going to be a feast for the ears with a 19 piece orchestra with 5 female vocalists with Do& #287 ;a Melbourne; a traditional Greek band with 5 vocalists with clarinets and other exotic instruments with Demotika; and an Iranian band playing traditional Iranian music with contemporary elements with Toranj.
