Melbourne folk don't need much excuse to wear a costume, some of us make up flimsy justifications such as it's Tuesday or we've run out of milk again. Yet with Halloween round the corner its the perfect holeproof excuse to have an all out, head to toe costume frenzy and with the plethora of options to choose from in Melbourne, you'd be crazy to stay at home with your jeans on (unless of course you are dressed as Bruce Springsteen and all your friends are around nibbling at your Halloween themed snacks).

With the infamous Melbourne Zombie Shuffle on a Sunday this year and a day off on the Tuesday for Melbourne Cup it's almost as if Halloween comes twice this year. This fills me with horrifying delight and I decided this year I have a hankering for some Halloween Burlesque.

Red Bennies on Chapel Street having a Jack O'Lantern Party, The Burlesque Bar on Johnston Street having a 3 day Halloween Special or get a head start on the 16th for some Halloween burlesque carny sketching with Dr Sketchy held at the Butterfly Club, South Melbourne. The natural choice for burlesque style or glamorous Halloween wear is Sideshow Annie Costume Parlour in Carlton North.

Not only do they have multitudes of new and gorgeous costumes to buy or hire out but they have a sense of parlour style ease which one requires from a costume shop. The staff are like long lost friends, whilst guaranteeing you have fun choosing your costume, they also have loads of helpful knowledge stored in their delicious brains ripe for zombie attack.

You will certainly leave feeling glamorous and ready to take on the ghouls and monsters with your totally awesome costume. Spooktacular!
