Williamstown's favourite indoor recycled clothing market Melbourne Frock Swap is a must visit for any Melbourne fashionista. Not to be confused with an actual frock swapping event, Melbourne Frock Swap is a flourishing pre-loved market, where you can buy frocks, tops, shoes, accessories, jewellery and more.

We give you 10 reasons to visit at least one Melbourne Frock Swap this year:

1. The only pre-loved fashion market in the West

Now in it's second year, the flourishing market brings you the biggest collection of pre-loved clothes in Melbourne's West. Unless you travel into the heart of Melbourne or the Eastern suburbs, you'll be hard pushed to find such a large quantity of recycled clothes under one roof anywhere else.

2. Held in a historical Williamstown building

In the Seaworks' 'big shed' building within the Williamstown maritime precinct to be exact. Everyone knows Williamstown is beautiful spot. The picturesque waterside suburb located just 15km south-west of Melbourne CBD, is filled with green parkland, historical architecture, plenty of cafes and hip boutique stores.

From Williamtown's waters edge, you can take in views of the CBD skyline and soak up the maritime history of the suburb, established in 1837 as Melbourne's first port. You will find the maritime museum at the back of the market; and a bar, The Pirates Tavern, me hearties.

3. It's a big market, but there's plenty of space

Melbourne Frock Swap is held at the historic Seaworks building in Williamstown. Positioned right on the water, the maritime precinct venue is a huge warehouse style venue, that was once a boathouse. The 'big shed', where you will find Melbourne Frock Swap, is 80m x 18m and houses 80 stalls. You will be able to shop up a storm, and have ample room to meander without knocking shoulders with your fellow fashionistas.

4. Held rain, hail or shine

Unlike other markets, you won't need to fret about the weather. Melbourne Frock Swap is held indoor and undercover, and will be held regardless of what the weather is doing outside Seaworks' 'big shed'.

5. There's coffee and food

You'll be able to quench your thirst and fill your bellies with a minimum of two food vendors at each market, and a coffee van. A market isn't a market without coffee, right?

6. Stallholders just like you

Melbourne Frock Swap attracts just a few vintage sellers, which add to the great mix of recycled fashion stalls. That said, the majority of stallholders are Melbourne folk just like you, clearing their wardrobes to make a bit of extra cash.

Stallholders sell only women's clothing and accessories; dresses, jeans, bags, shoes, tops, skirts and the like. You won't need to rummage through boxes of clothes on the floor, clothes are displayed on racks or on tables.

7. FREE for your family

No need to leave your family at home, bring your partner and kids along and make a day of it. The entry fee is $2 per person, but, this cost only applies to shoppers; you won't need to pay for your boyfriends, husbands, or your children. Seaworks' venue is pram and wheelchair friendly.

8. Dedicated to women's wear

You want pre-loved ladies fashion? Make Melbourne Frock Swap your only shopping destination. You won't be trawling through bric-a-brac, baby goods, kids clothes or handmade gifts here; Melbourne Frock Swap is a dedicated market for pre-loved women's clothing and accessories.

9. More bang for your buck

Why pay $100 plus dollars for a dress, when the same money will stretch to 3 or 4 frocks? Pre-loved clothing won't cost anywhere near as much as it does in the high street. Make the most of it, and fill your wardrobe with new-to-you threads ahead of the next seasonal change.

You will leave Melbourne Frock Swap with fabulous new fashion pieces, but you won't leave with the same guilt as you would if you shopped for the same amount of clothes purchased retail-new. Win-win.

10. FREE parking otherwise easy to reach via public transport

Williamstown Beach train station is a 30-minute journey from Flinders Street Station on the Williamstown line. If you choose to drive, you will find metered parking out the front, otherwise all day free parking in surrounding streets.
