Last night I headed 'underground' to the Melbourne Fringe Club set up in the basement of Arts House. It was a last minute decision and a good one, as I witnessed "Political Asylum" a 'one night stand' of local stand-up comedians like Cal Wilson, Damian Callinan, Damien Power, Dilruk Jayasinha, Scott Abbot, Gerard McCulloch, Andy Matthews, Laura Davis and MC Toby Halligan.
And the best yet - it's free entry, quirky and friendly, with a non-pretentious atmosphere, great selection of beer, cider, wine and snacks at the bar. So, if you don't catch a show at Melbourne Fringe, at least visit the Fringe Club and feel right at home, meet your neighbours, or make new friends with artists, celebrities or the locals, and sit back, and laugh your 1st world problems away. Fringe Club is free and opens at 9:30 pm every night of the Melbourne Fringe Festival until 4 October 2015.
