Australia's biggest and best festival of food and drink, first order of the day has to be checking out the Program and getting your Tickets as events are selling fast, with some already sold out! With a jam-packed program of events from 15-24 March 2024, you have your work cut out for you, perusing the list and wanting to fit it all into 10 days of the Festival. The renowned World's Longest Lunch kicks off on day one (15 Mar) and opens this year's Festival at Kings Domain, where you'll be sitting at a table that's more than 600 metres long winding through the park. At this point in time, more than half the tickets have sold already. For more information about MFWF follow all links given or go straight to the website and Facebook page for updates, and interesting content.

Spearheaded by celebrity chef Andrew McConnell (Gimlet, Cumulus Inc, Supernormal and Cutler & Co), your tickets to the World’s Longest Lunch includes three-courses designed by McConnell and prepared by MFWF’s official catering partner, Peter Rowland Group. Expect premium poultry from Aurum, wines by Tahbilk, beers from Brick Lane Brewing, still, sparkling and flavoured waters from Capi, coffee from Melbourne’s own Inglewood Coffee Roasters, all served by a team of waitstaff dressed to the nines by Cargo Crew. Thanks to Mecca Cosmetica, every guest receives a 150ml bottle of its luxuriously whipped To Save Body SPF30 Radiant Sun Mousse. You have the opportunity to turn up the dial here with the option of a VIP package for premium seating, cocktail on arrival, dedicated VIP bar and staff, premium wines from Tahbilk, and a signed copy of McConnell's new book 'Meatsmith.'

Following the Lunch, the next day (16 Mar) you have the World's Longest Brunch , also at Kings Domain. Each ticket to the World’s Longest Brunch, includes a three-course brunch designed by Harry Mangat, Helly Raichura and Mischa Tropp; game changers from some of the most talked about restaurants doing Indian food differently. Enjoy a prosecco on arrival from Pizzini Wines, coffee from Melbourne’s own Inglewood Coffee Roasters, plus water from Capi, samples of Honest Eggs, Cocobella coconut yoghurt and coconut water, and a gift-bag tote from Cargo Crew.

If you find the 'Knives Out' image above intriguing, head for Gluttony: A Play in Three Courses which runs for the duration of the Festival. Held in Carlton, this is an immersive food and theatre experience where you'll be seated amongst a cast of professional actors. You'll get to enjoy your three-course meal accompanied by boutique Victorian wines as drama unfolds before you. You're not required to participate, but be a fly on the wall at this debaucherous final dinner where laughter, betrayal and some hard truths flow like wine. A must if you appreciate both fine dining and quality theatre at this unique concept and exclusive experience.

Other program highlights include -

  • Global Dining Series - This is where you'll find some of the most exciting food talent from around the world and around Australia. You have master chefs of Chengdu; a Thai-Chinese feast that explores its collaboration; the Potato Head team bringing the flavours of Bali to Brunswick, while throwing in a mini block party; alumni chiefs from The National Indigenous Culinary Institute taking centre stage at Rockpool; one of Australia's most inspiring new champions of Middle Eastern cuisine; Hapag chefs dialling up the Manila essence; a Michelin-awarded star Hanoi chef, one of Japan's most talked about specialists in hyperlocal cuisine, and the list goes on.
  • Eat Drink Westside - Discover why so many food lovers, trailblazers and game changers are being drawn to Melbourne's West. 'West Wanders' is a key part of this event, with a special series of moveable feasts or 'wanders' that takes intimate groups of food lovers to 3 venues on a mini tour with a MFWF host; stopping for a bite or drink or a snack at each spot. Think of it as progressive meals.

  • The Taxi Kitchen Team

Special Events by Square - This is where you take a deep dive that'll rock your world. Go big with events dedicated to wild ales, bubble tea cheese, sake, lobster, tofu, rum, rare spirits, suckling pig, tacos, grappa, tomatoes, Greece and Turkey, Brazil and Japan, Sicily and Venice. There are Martini parties, a pairing of falafel and funk, Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, Lao-Filipino feasting, a pizza and lambrusco throwdown, and a whisky festival at a bowling alley.
  • Dan's Diner - Unfortunately this retro diner experience with a lineup of chefs whose names are Dan, is all sold out. No wonder, as these were not your ordinary Dans. It's an all-star lineup of Dan Hunter (of three-hat regional Victorian trailblazer Brae), Daniel Puskas (from three-hat Sydney restaurant Sixpenny) and Daniel Wilson (from the powerhouse that is Yakimono) leading the charge. This is a fine reminder that bookings need to be made ASAP.
  • MFWF at Fed Square - MFWF's city hub, this is where you go - to Fed Sq if you've missed out on tickets to other festival events, or just want to participate on the spur of the moment. The Festival stage will be filled with music and entertainment and it's all free. It'll be complemented by great eating and drink as it is after all the MFWF. Have an interactive time with pizza-oven pioneers Gozney to create the hot, fast and fun pizza good times with guest talents Ellie Bouhadana (Hope St Radio), Casey Wall (Capitano, Bar Liberty), Lucy Whitlow (Figlia) and Theo Loizou (MasterChef) all designing pizzas you’re going to love. You'll be invited to join in to top your own pizza or get hands-on with some pizza dough. Baker's Delight will be baking across the Festival's final weekend at the Square, and there'll be banging celebrity sausages also presented by Bakers Delight,
