Here comes the biggest, most glamorous and prestigious arts festival in Australia - the annual Melbourne Festival. This year it begins on October 10 and it will keep our minds occupied and entertained for whole two weeks and two days (the festival finishes on October 26). You might think there's plenty of time to the event, but you're completely and utterly wrong! Tickets are on sale since July 1, and if you've decided to experience this year's Festival, you have to hurry. And choosing from the enormous variety of events is a tough decision!

There are more than 60 unique events crammed into a tight two week schedule of the . These include theatre, film, music, dance performances, and various art events.

For a second year in a roll, the Festival will commence with a remarkable Tanderrum ceremony. Elders of the five clans of the Kulin nation (Wurundjeri, Boonwurrung, Wathaurong, Taungerong, and Dja Dja Wurrung) will once again invite all the people of Melbourne to a spectacular exchange of culture and art, in a huge celebration of the land we live on.

After the magnificent opening, the will continue to celebrate the amazing collaboration of different cultures. How does a choreography compiled of professionals from Belgium, France, and Japan sound like to you? You will be able to see it during the two grand dance shows in the Dance Territories program. Or listen to Irish folk variations made by Celtic musicians in collaboration with an American indie rock producer.

Life is a circus! Or at least Melbourne will be a circus in October. There is a huge emphasis on the circus art in the Festival this year. With six very different and inspiring circus series throughout the duration of the Festival, visitors will be astonished by tricks and performances. From the magnificent circus masters from Montreal's Cirque Éloize, to the exotic Chinese Nanjing Project. Take your pick.

You can also choose between a variety of themes in the film program as well - from art and dance film events, to social and political movies. And let's not forget the stage - in theatre there will be comedy, drama, dance, and provoking social topics, as well as anything in between.
