Alexandra Gardens - home to the 2012 Mothers Day Classic, once again.

The city of culture hosts four must see events this May. This article is following on from the April article, as promised. Happy May, and to all of you Melbourne mums out there, Happy Mothers Day.

Speaking of which, the Mothers Day Classic was such a hit at its new venue in 2011, that this popular annual event will be held at Alexandra Gardens once again. Choose from the 4km or 8km run or walk in order to raise some much needed funds for breast cancer research.

Melburnians also love being pet owners, and for those of you Melburnians who own a dog, the RSPCA Million Paws Walk is worthy of your time. One of the locations that comes to mind is Albert Park lake.

In addition to loving fido, our mums and sports; us Melburnians also love the film scene, and it is great that the St Kilda Film Festival is on again in 2012 and features the Top 100 short films to be screened at the Astor Theatre. Film making forums are also on the agenda at this year's film festival.

Melburnians also love their art, and May in Melbourne also has this covered. Welcome to Art Melbourne; an event that attracts well around 14,000 visitors to the Royal Exhibition Building. One of the largest annual arts fairs in Australia with collectables and affordables alike on show and tell. Furthermore, for all Melbourne based writers, the Emerging Writers Festival is on once again to inspire, create and entertain.

Have a great month Melbourne, and watch this space for June.
