The homely factor is coming alive in Melbourne to see through and out the second month of winter. Following on from the top events in June , July is all about why Melbourne is a great home for those of you who have chosen Melbourne as your city. On the other hand, there are still some fun and engaging activities for those of you visiting Melbourne this July. These top events are in date order, not necessarily in order of preference.

1. Building and Home Improvement Expo

For those of you in the process of building a home - think Melton and Pakenham; or are in the process of doing some home improvements - this is your event. Expect a room full of over 300 exhibitors providing quality home improvement advice. Of course, the latest home improvement products and services are also on offer.

2. State of Design Festival

It makes sense as Melbourne is top of range when it comes to the arts. This event is the largest design event in Australia, and was established in 2004. A program of activities, talks and exhibitions are available in various locations around Melbourne.

3. Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair

A range of exhibitions. For those of you who love scrap booking, knitting, embroidery, quilt and jewellery making - this is the event for you. A great way of continuing to escape those winter blues.

4. Echuca-Moana Winter Blues Festival

Speaking of escaping the winter blues, and a great way to escape the city thanks to V/Line. The Murray River precinct is home to the Winter Blues Festival. Music to your ears.

5. Melbourne Open House

This is when the city gets jam packed, and locals and visitors to Melbourne alike get an opportunity to appreciate the great historical buildings in and around the city. Have your walking shoes on and stay hydrated. This popular annual event, the Melbourne Open House is held on the final weekend in July. Queues are expected for establishments such as the Melbourne City Baths. Time to get up, close and personal with Melbourne Town Hall as well.

There you have it Melbourne, some of the top ways to keep you occupied for the month of July. Watch this space for August.
