The "Absolutely 80's" FREE concert and family fun day is going to be huge. Being held at Docklands on Sunday 27th August 2017, this is one Melbourne party you do not want to miss. The Melbourne Day Concert includes a line-up of performers who have long been household names, including Brian Mannix (Uncanny X-Men), Scott Carne (Kids in the Kitchen) and Ally Fowler (The Chantoozies), in addition to Wendy Stapleton and Paul Norton from Wendy and the Rocketts and Peta Evans-Taylor known from The Voice season 2015. The main stage will be rocking from 12noon to 3pm.

The Docklands festival, in celebration of Melbourne, will include a harbour-side market from 10am to 5pm where you are sure to find an eclectic mix of stallholder wares. The market will be bigger than usual, especially for this family fun day event. Then find something tasty for lunch from the procession of gourmet food trucks.

Docklands schooner the Enterprize will be in port and open for visitors throughout this festival. Quite fittingly, the Enterprize is a replica of the ships that brought the first settlers to Melbourne back in 1835. Board for free and take a look around. Open from noon to 4pm.

The Melbourne Day Family Festival will include an artwork display designed to highlight and celebrate Melbourne's indigenous culture and heritage.

Kids can take a selfie with the 2017 Junior Lord Mayor of Melbourne, have their faces painted and meet Vicky the Truck, a free, interactive, digital experience that travels all around Victoria celebrating diversity and shared values. Inside, using virtual reality headsets, everyone can learn more about our great state and even film your own 30-second video or take a photo in the photo booth as a way of sharing your own story.

There'll be heaps of roving entertainers throughout the festival in addition to a performance by DJ Stick Mareebo and the Open Door Singers / Docklands Community Choir, an impressive 50-strong vocal group under the leadership of Musical Director Shaun Islip.

See the cutting of the giant birthday cake and if you're lucky score a free birthday cupcake – on offer until they run out - courtesy of Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses.

With heaps of giveaways and the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel mascot Melbi Bear handing out free tickets for kids to ride, you could easily fill the entire afternoon around the Docklands precinct.
