Melbourne Cup Madness
With so many places vying for our custom on Melbourne Cup Day, it has to be a pretty special offering to attract attention and draw in the patrons.
And it's fairly safe to say that one of those is going to be the luncheon at historic Penny's Hill Winery in McLaren Vale.
Set in a glorious rustic location among their own grapevines, with views to the majestic Willunga hills and sheep frolicking in the paddock alongside the Winery, they're already onto a winner!
Add to that a delectable 3 course lunch from in-vogue chef Duncan Welgemoed of Africola and French champagne on arrival, as well as a four hour wine package from The Black Chook and Thomas Goss, live music and, of course, race coverage, sweepstakes and fashions in the field. And hats, hats, hats! In addition, a charity sweepstake will be supporting the Youth Opportunities program at nearby Willunga High School.
And how many luncheons will be featuring real horses? Local rider Cooper Oborn is being helped by Penny's Hill in his bid for selection for the Australian team and he will be giving a show jumping demonstration on the day.
For those who travel from the city, transfer buses from Adelaide (and return) are included in the price of $120. To book, go to melbournecup.pennyshill.com.au/
