It's official. Summer is here and its getting increasingly harder to walk upon the surface of the planet. With our recent slew of forty degree plus days, I thought it only fitting we address the elephant in the room. It's about time we decided once and for all, 'Where are the best waterslides in my area?'

North:

Oak Park Aquatic Centre

The waterslide of my childhood, so big I could even see it from my house kilometres away! Open on busy days when the mercury hits 28 or above, this waterslide is a must try if you're in the area. Other than the killer waterslide, the centre also has a toddler play pool for the kiddies and a 50 metre lap pool for those who go to the pool to keep fit (I'm sure they're out there. No judgement.)

Address: Corner of Main Street and Pascoe Vale Road,
Oak Park
Phone: 9304 5600
Opening hours:

It is a seasonal pool, meaning its only opened from the beginning of November to the end of March. Opening hours also depend on whether it is school holidays or not. For instance

During school term:

Monday to Friday: 6am - 11am AND 3-6pm
Weekends: 9am -6pm.

DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS:
Everyday: 6am-6pm for the pool, 9am - 6pm for the waterslide and toddler pools.

COST:
Adult: $4.50
Concession: $3.40
Kids: $2.90
Family pass (two adults and up to three kids) $11.80

WATERSLIDE

West:

Alright, I am going to have to admit that finding amazing waterslides in the West was difficult. There are a great number of aquatic centres in the Western suburbs, but none that I found that had a waterslide on the scale of the others. So it is with a heavy heart I am going to have to cheat out and add:

Adventure Park Geelong

This is THE place to be when the weather is hot. It is Victoria's first water based theme park. It has an array of amazing water related activities, not just a waterslide (but that is a killer slide, if I do say so myself.) Head on down if you're up for a day of cooling off and having some serious fun. It is approximately a 1 hour drive from Melbourne (considerably less if you're already out in the West.)

Address: 1249 Bellarine Hwy
Wallington, Geelong

Check website as opening hours vary

COST:
Adults or kids over 120cms: $38.00
Children under 1.2m: $28.00
Kids under 90 cms: FREE
Seniors: $25.00

Noble Park Aquatic Centre boasts Melbourne's biggest waterslide - if that is not enough to get you excited, I'm not sure what is. Open everyday that temperature exceeds 26 degrees, the centre also offers four heated outdoor pools, a toddler pool for the little ones and free BBQ facilities.
