Melbourne Art Week 's dynamic program is a collaboration of the Melbourne Art Foundation and over 50 Victorian cultural organisations, institutions, art spaces, satellite fairs and galleries. Presenting over 500 artists, in over 50 events and 30 venues, there'll be a plethora of
events ,
exhibitions ,

tours and
workshops to choose from. Running from 30 July to 5 August 2018, it incorporates its main event, the
Melbourne Art Fair (
Vernissage, 1 August ), from 2-3 August 2018. Melbourne Art Week will be officially
launched by Keynote speaker Philip Tinari , Director of Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing. It'll run from 6.30-9.30pm on Tue 31 July 2018 at Deakin Edge, Federation Square, 1 Flinders St, Melbourne. Attendance is free, but you must
register .
For the first time, the Art Fair will be housed across two venues within the Southbank Arts Precinct - 111 Sturt St, Southbank, and alongside ACCA; Vault Hall and Riding Hall. Get your
tickets here to the Art Fair that presents 40 leading galleries and showcases works by some of the newest and most respected contemporary artists from Australia, New Zealand and the region. Be the first to access Melbourne Art Fair's celebrated opening night,
Vernissage . Tickets include a drink on arrival and live performance art, as well as access to partner Southbank Arts Precinct venues and exhibitions. Check the
website thoroughly for all other events, some of which may be free, but require registration.
Other Art Week highlights include the
Visual Arts Awards (Saturday 4 August),
From Will to Form : Tarrawarra Biennial 2018; ACCA:
A Lightness of Spirit is the Measure of Happiness , Buxton Contemporary:
No One is Watching You : Ronnie van Hout,
VCA Open Studios and more. Visually representing is a new work from Japanese-born, Australian-based artist Hiromi Tango entitled
Lizard Tail (Dawn) which was commissioned by Melbourne Art Foundation and Associate Partner, MLC Life Insurance.
Tango performed Lizard Tail (Dawn) on Southbank Art Precinct, weaving through Melbourne's iconic cultural landmarks and institutions, finally resting alongside ACCA, the 2018 home of Melbourne Art Fair. It's the sixth iteration of the Lizard Tail concept and it explores human interaction with the urban environment and our constant connectivity to devices. It questions what we may be losing of ourselves in this era of being constantly connected, and always striving to analyse everything about ourselves.
Melbourne Art Fair's
Facebook page is a good way to stay in touch with updates and continuing conversations about events and
must-see tips. The Visual Arts Awards plus Art Party of the Year is definitely one of those so be sure to get your
tickets to party with
I Am George ,
Four Pillars Gin ,
Mountain Goat Beer performance art and a live DJ set from
NO ZU on Saturday 4 August. Why not show your interest on
individual event pages and join the discussions. For all other information on this huge event, be sure to check out the
website and find out if you need to register for your favourite events, talks, workshops and more.
