Not just any book fair This is the Melbourne Art Book Fair
If you are a writer, artist, designer or have any interest in these fields, strap on your jet pack because from Friday the 29th of April to the 1st of May the National Gallery of Victoria will host the Melbourne Art Book Fair.
Throughout the three day event you will be able to attend over twenty book launches, book signings, panel discussions and lectures including a grammar workshop. Local and international artwork will also be show cased throughout the event and is a great chance to meet like minded individuals. Live music performances by local and international musicians will also hit the stage and is the icing on the cake.
Melbourne Art Book Fair Begins 29th of April 2016 - 1st of May 2016.
Beginning 10am Friday the 29th of April the event will launch with the International Symposium on the Future of Design for Publishing. This will cover new genres and new forms in publishing, quite a hot topic at the moment. Guest speakers include the talented Seoul-based graphic designer Na Kim, London based artist and publisher David Blamey, James Langdon (a UK based graphic designer and also the director of the artist-run gallery Eastside Projects), and Freek Lomme, publisher of The Netherlands-based imprint Onomatopee.
The Melbourne Art Book Fair Preview follows in the evening at 6pm. It's here that attendees can browse limited edition publications and meet some of the world's most talented publishers, designers, artists and writers. This will include DJ set performances by Andras and Leisure Suit. In a nut shell, this will be a hub of creative minds uniting to discuss, celebrate and explore new possibilities in the field.
Local and international artwork will also be show cased throughout the event.
Do not miss the highly anticipated National Gallery of Victoria's publication "Some Posters from NGV". This is the first release in a series of limited edition hand-numbered publications and features over ninety posters from the NGV's extensive poster archive from the period of 1963 – 1985.
Meet like minded artists and writers
