Sandbar Whaler sharks – the most abundant species of shark in the western Atlantic Ocean – are a major attraction at the Melbourne Aquarium. Despite a formidable exterior, they are not considered dangerous to humans. These sharks possess a characteristic dorsal fin and can grow up to 2.4 metres long.
