Melba's at Forest Hill Chase is a choice destination for all ages; it's accessible for wheelchairs and baby carriages and is kid friendly and adult friendly too!

Plenty of room at Melba's

A busy little café with friendly staff who greet you with a smile (yes, a smile can add dollars to any café's takings for the day!).

The menu includes a great selection of breakfast items to choose from. You could also have lunch with your girlfriends (or boyfriends) at any time during the day. Their toasted sandwiches are very popular as are their milkshakes. Two families who arrived just as I was leaving had come in from the Hoyts theatre upstairs, and the kids were all arguing as to who was having what as far as milkshake flavours were concerned. Melba's has vegetarian choices are well as gluten free items.

I haven't as yet tasted their omelettes but their poached eggs are done to a treat. Eggs Benedict also have been a pleasant surprise but this time I chose their Traditional Breakfast. A large serving of tasty comfort food - none of this fancy so-called "modern" food, and was certainly enough to satisfy this old heart of mine (and tummy) for the rest of the day.

Bacon, grilled tomato, mushrooms, sausage, baked beans served in a special comport and hidden beneath everything I found two luscious poached eggs. All served on toast.

To accompany this I had a large mug of flat white coffee and this again hit the spot. For I am amazed when a customer asks for weak flat white you are usually given a strong white coffee. The coffee machine was busy all through the time I was at the café, with many take-aways of both coffee and food being ordered.

Mug of Flat White - just the thing on a cold morning

Once again Melba's was an enjoyable experience, and from the comments of other diners as I left the cafe, it was obvious that they too had been well satisfied and would "come again".
