My early career was in teaching, writing, producing and directing for theatre, comedy and impro shows. Now I'm a professional creative person. Mostly high-end branding, strategy, writing, editing and digital content creation.
Mel's had Enough Pussyfooting About
If you've not yet heard of Mel Buttle, there is seriously something wrong with the world. Queensland born and bred, Mel is one of the funniest women in Australia, and if her career trajectory continues the way it's started, someday, she may be the funniest woman in the world.
Mel started her stand-up career with a bang, winning the Queensland state final of Triple J's Raw Comedy and heading to Melbourne to compete in the national finals. A prolific writer, Mel doesn't just write her own jokes, she's known around the scene for having written for other young comedians too such as the vastly popular Josh Thomas.
Mel's appeared on a variety of TV and radio spots including on Triple J, Nova, and 612 ABC Brisbane, This Week Live, The Project, and The Circle to name a few. These days she has a regular column in The Courier Mail, and tours successful shows to festivals where she's picked up awards like the Director's Choice Award at Melbourne Comedy Festival and the Best Comedy award from Sydney Fringe Festival.
Mel is bringing her new show Up to Pussy's Bow to the Brisbane Comedy Festival at Brisbane Powerhouse in March, and audiences can expect to have a good laugh at the expense of Mel's real life struggles with the painfully annoying and downright rude people of the world. Honest, charming and witty, Mel's not afraid to lampoon herself with as much dry sarcasm, wit and vigour as she applies to others.
