Located near Muratti, Mekko Market & Café specialises in offering Australian café style food that has a bit of a Scandinavian touch. Food is not the only thing that the café offers, there is also a second-hand clothing market and a free book exchange where customers can exchange books they no longer want for those left behind by other customers.
Great for those wanting a filling meal, The Big Breakfast had bacon and pork sausage that had a delightful smoky flavour and juicy field mushrooms. The roasted tomatoes had a wonderful slightly sweet flavour and the poached eggs had lovely runny yolks. The eggs were particularly great when eaten together with the toasted sourdough bread. Served with the dish was tomato relish that can be enjoyed with the other ingredients for an extra element of flavour.

For something not as filling, there is the Eggs Benny. Compared to the bacon in The Big Breakfast, the cherry smoked ham had a firmer texture with a milder smoked flavour. A fresh element was provided by the baby spinach and the hollandaise sauce was not too creamy. If you like to add some sweetness, you can enjoy the eggs with the sundried tomato pesto that was served alongside the eggs.

One of the pastries that were offered during our visit, the apples in their Apple and Raspberry Slice still had the right amount of bite to them. The raspberries added a sweet taste that was not too intense. The base was not too tough and the crumble topping included an element that provided a hint of nuttiness.
